Adjutant's Corner

It’s YOUR Post

Greetings, Post 43 members,

As we approach the end of March, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who participated in all the fun events and programming over the last month.

Thanks to the hard work of our Chaplain, Donna Callaway, and her lovely coterie of invited guests, the Post was able to successfully mount the best Four Chaplain's program in the District and, arguably, the entire Department of California. The program was a moving tribute to the selflessness and bravery of these four chaplains who gave their lives to save others during World War II. Your contributions and attendance made the event a fitting tribute to these heroes.

I would also like to thank all those who participated in our recent Funk Fryday Fish Fry. Commander Jeff Daly's experimental fish fry was a hit, and we appreciate all those who helped to make it a fun and memorable event. Our Post is fortunate to have so many dedicated volunteers who help to make our events such a success. A huge thank-you goes out to 2nd Vice Commander Karl Risinger, who spent his entire Friday slaving away to make fish before bringing it to the Post to serve to members. Despite the weather and the Post even losing power towards the end of the night (which we shall hereafter refer to as "the night the lights went out in Hollywood"), the vibe was great, the food was tasty, and the people had a great time.

On a more serious note, I want to remind all members that the Post will be closed to the public and members for much of this week due to private rentals. Keep an eye out for what some of these events are, as at least one of them is a huge "get" for the Post and is sure to help build our reputation as a world-class venue. Please be sure to check the calendar on our website to stay up-to-date on upcoming events, meetings, and closures. Since this means there will be no Legion Lounge or Music Night this week, I look forward to seeing you all at the Social Meeting on March 6th!

We encourage all members to participate and get involved in the various committees and programs at Post 43, so if you're looking to get involved, reach out to the office and find out which committee needs your help!

In conclusion, I want to thank all members of our Post community for their continued dedication and support. We are fortunate to have such a vibrant and engaged group of veterans and their families, and we look forward to continuing to serve our community in the months ahead.

Thank you,

Joshua Epstein
