Commander's Time

Hello 43,

I’m currently in Florida for the Student Veterans of America’s NatCon2023, representing The American Legion and our Tango Alpha Lima podcast. It amazes me how many don’t know what The American Legion is or have the wrong idea. Post 43 is often discussed as an example of a “new” kind of American Legion Post. 

Other things that I’ve noticed or learned:

SVA members need an organization to belong to after they graduate. We are poised to be that landing spot.

There are a LOT of employers here looking for applicants. There is a clear need for a connection between job seekers and employers. I know this is also true in Los Angeles, so a job fair hosted at Post 43 might need to be considered.

I’ve connected with a group that I’m hoping will bring Yoga to Sunday FUNday…free of charge.

I love representing The American Legion and Hollywood Post 43. I also enjoy making Post 43 work for our members and our community. Coming up:

The Nation Commander is coming to Hollywood later this month for a dinner event. Stay tuned for the details.

There will be more music nights, including a Funky Fish Fry Friday. Funk band + fish fry = almost too much fun. 

I’m finishing up the plan for Fit43. I’m excited to see how many member of the Fam participate. Trust me. I’m doing it, so it won’t be that difficult.

I hope to see you at the social meeting. If you haven’t been, we don’t do any business items, so there’s zero drama. The main event is inducting new members, which is always great to be a part of.
