Secretary of the Army Calls for LA Leaders to Help with Recruitment
On Wednesday, Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth spoke with assembled leaders of military and veteran groups from around the greater Los Angeles Area.
In a small group setting at the University of Southern California’s Hughes Aerospace building, Secretary Wormuth addressed the ongoing recruiting issues facing the Army.
She praised the innovative efforts locally and at the Pentagon, but stressed that more and newer approaches are needed.
The Secretary stressed the need for “the Army to reintroduce itself” to younger prospective service members, citing single-digit rates of interested youth in the 18-25 age range, and noting that the Army needs to remain competitive with private sector employers like Wal-Mart, McDonalds, and Starbucks as they continue to improve the benefits packages.
