Hollywood Post 43 Announces Veteran Made Film Competition 2023

Announcing The 2023 Veteran-Made Film Competition
A competition allowing teams of veterans to work together to create short films judged by industry professionals will be screened at one of the most famous theaters in Hollywood for the second year in a row.
The Veteran-Made Film Competition will return to the American Legion Hollywood Post 43 and give veterans and Legion family members an opportunity to work together in teams to create compelling films, with the potential to earn a $500 prize and be featured on Veteran Entertainment Television (VET Tv).
This year’s theme is comedy – so whether it is slow and subtle or gut-punching laughter, the focus of the competition is the lighter side of being a veteran.
Teams consisting of a Producer, Writer, and Director will be asked to submit a 10-minute script and treatment for a short film they would like to make. The submission deadline is November 30, 2022.
Five projects will be chosen to move forward in the competition. These teams will be announced on December 15, 2022.
The five teams moving forward will be granted one 10-hour shoot day in the Hollywood Post 43 clubhouse between January 1, 2023 and February 28, 2023. Although, teams may use other locations for their project as well.
The completed films will be judged by a panel of industry professionals, then screened in the famous Hollywood Legion Theater on April 1, 2023. An awards ceremony will follow where awards will be given in the major categories.
The competition is open to Veterans and members of The American Legion family, including The American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of The American Legion, and American Legion Riders.
