2nd Vice Commander's Time
I want to start off by praising Taylor Umphenour and Alan Rode for partnering with WORD Theater to put together an amazing, star-studded night at the Post Saturday night. Performers were reading short stories, poems and songs from the words of Veterans from Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. A truly moving evening leading into the 50th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.
Afterwards, several of the entertainers joined members in the Art Deco Bar. I approached Griffin Dunn ("This Is Us") to ask him to be an Honorary Colonel for his work portraying a Vietnam Vet. We engaged in a great conversation of him telling me about his fathers involvement in the Battle of the Bulge!! He has my card and is interested in membership to the Sons!
This event was free to Members and a guest. Keep looking at the Calendar and visit HollywoodLegionTheater.org often to see all the opportunities available to you.
This week we have some more fun and excitement for you.
Monday night was our Legion Business meeting. I be conducted the meeting, as our 1st Vice is out of town and our Commander is off doing other Legion Business in the State. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the FaceBook Live aspect running, as we are having technical difficulties at the moment. Hopefully, it will return soon.
Thursday Deco Bar Nigh is happening. If you can't make it in person don't forget to check out the Virtual side of it as well!
Friday, swing by Bob's Big Boy in Burbank and visit with the Riders. We will be in the parking lot passing out fundraising flyers. Go get some food any time on Friday and 20% of your meal comes back to the Riders for our Programs and Activities. Then, pop over the hill and check out the "Lonesome Soul" Quartet in the Art Deco Bar.
We round it out as we always do, with another Sunday FUNday!
Things to mark your social calendar for . . . Veteran Made Media Competition on Friday, March 31st and FAMILY FUN DAY on Sunday, April 2nd.
Your Hollywood Vice
