Adjutant's Corner

Happy Long Weekend, Everyone!

Greetings, Family 43!

January has been a fun month for us so far at the Post. We’ve seen great success with our relaunched Music Nights, a number of you have stepped in to volunteer on fun and important projects, and we’re preparing to host our first New Member Orientation in over four years this coming weekend.

New Member Orientation is a particularly exciting adventure for me. As many of you may know, I joined the Post during the pandemic lockdowns and could not attend an in-person meeting for my entire first year as a Legionnaire. My first day of work after being appointed Adjutant was only my third time ever stepping into the building. Over the last two years, I’ve learned more than I ever thought possible about the Legion, the Post, and their programs. I would have benefited tremendously from participating in an Orientation and learning about these things before I stepped into this role. I have high hopes that those of you who plan on attending will become our next generation of leaders within the Post.

On a sadder note, the program will no longer feature an appearance by our National Commander, who had to cancel due to illness. Keep him in your prayers as you go through the week.

Before I sign off, I have a challenge for all of you:

Let me know how you’re stepping up within the Legion or the larger veteran community within Los Angeles. Are you launching a new initiative that we need to know about? Did you reach out to a member and perform a buddy check?

Send me your stories so we can trumpet them from the digital mountaintops, and MAYBE put yourself in the running for Legionaire of the Year!

I look forward to seeing many of you this coming Sunday at the New Member Orientation!
