Happy New Year 43 Family!
We are coming out of a year of challenges, but I see an upward trend. Your Executive Committee and other leadership committees are working on issues that can impact generations into the future. We will have upcoming votes on items like: the El Centro sale, investment plans for the proceeds from the sale, tax and non-profit compliance that will include discussion of the business model and potentially the creation of a subsidiary, budgeting overhaul, the IATSE contract, and a 5-year strategic plan. Be on the lookout for more information, prepare your questions, and demand answers so that you can make informed votes.
That’s all business, but we also have plans for fun and membership enrichment.
Fitness 43 – get ready to make teams and work together to work on basic wellness.
More Music on Bar Nights – oh yeah, there will be karaoke, music nights, and open mics. We’re adding Fridays back to the schedule and including food in some of the events!
Comedy – Laughter is the best medicine, and the Deco Bar will be doling out doses of levity for you.
Blood Drive – you can be a hero! Blood drives are returning to the Post in late January.
Veteran Made Media – the selections have been made, and the projects will soon enter production. Stay tuned for the screenings.
Professional Development – I’m working to enrich Sunday FUNday with some professional development. I’ll be having discussions with VME and others about bringing in classes and maybe even some regular workgroups.
Speaker Series – I hope to bring this back. Apparently, having monthly speakers was a popular program at the Post before I arrived.
In addition to all of that, we have the National Commander coming for dinner at the Post. We are also hosting California Legion College. We are becoming that vision of Hollywood Post 43 being a significant hub of veteran and Legion activity in Los Angeles. You can be a part of it by joining a committee!
