Commander's Time
Fellow 43ers,
Another Monday, another meeting opportunity. I know what you’re saying but hear me out. Last month’s membership meeting was pretty routine, until The Good of the Legion section. In the Good of the Legion, I noticed a bunch of “why” actions and things are happening and committees are responding to the call.
Rebecca Stewart-Wilson presented Chaplain Donna Callaway and Past Commander Jennifer Campbell with proclamations for their efforts in The American Legion. We also waved farewell to Commander Campbell as she moves on to Las Vegas for work commitments. I have a feeling that she will eventually be back.
Simone lead the call for water and donations to help her crew hydrate the homeless, demonstrating our service to “community, state and nation”.
Alan Rode and the Theater Committee have had family friendly programming on the mind, so look for that as we seek to more deeply engage with our members and their families.
Past Commander Jeric Wilhelmsen is keep our creative Hollywood roots alive with the now renamed “Veteran Made Media Competition” Look for those details, soon.
Chapter 43 Riders Director Milan Morgan thanked people for participating in with the Riders fundraising event at Bob’s Big Boy. Basically people donated by eating, and really what’s better than that?
Chaplain Donna Callaway tells of our fellow members needing support as well as making sure that we take care of each in life and after.
We will be calling on Donna again, to help us navigate the huge loss of Past Commander William McTaggart. She will be keeping us up to date on the details of his memorial service. RIP Commander McTaggart. Your irreplaceable presence will be greatly missed.
We are looking for some volunteers with different sets of skills:
Business/Finance
Marketing
Landscaping
Law
Graphic Design
Electrical
Video Editing
These are just to name a few. Drop a line to 1 st Vice Commander Dennis Kee at dennis@post43.org to offer your services, even if not listed here. We are trying to learn our membership
Our bar nights and Sunday FUNdays continue to grow, since we opened up after the pandemic. Now Sundays will have the NFL football games and the return of Giant Jenga. I think we have Milan Morgan to thank for that.
If you haven’t taken advantage of any of these social opportunities, we’d love to see you!
Well, that’s it. I hope to see you on Monday or Thursday or Sunday…or feel free to change every “or” to “and”!
Finally RENEW TODAY…for the good of the Legion.
Jeff Daly, Commander
