Commander's Time

Fellow 43ers,

Congrats to Army. You won both the game and the best uniform distinction. We discussed the uniforms on the Tango Alpha Lima podcast, which also features an interview with Past Commander Jennifer Campbell for the health and wellness series.

If you were at the Holiday Dinner or read my last week’s article, you know I’m planning to challenge everyone to a wellness competition in the new year. I still need help setting it up, but I’d like people to compete in teams that support each other and hold each other accountable. Right now, I’m looking to include the following categories for competitive tracking:

1. Steps (these can be measured by any smartphone)

2. Hydration (Report your daily water intake)

3. Self-care (Report what you did to reduce stress)

4. Short body weight activities. (Squats, sit-ups/planks, pushups, etc.)

The numbers won’t be crazy, and adaptations will be accepted for different abilities and fitness levels.

5. Monthly bonus activities. For example, I’m working on a photo walk/hike with Auxiliary Member Amanda Bolin.

The point will not be to find out who the hidden Olympian is. Rather it is to encourage all of us to do a bit more today that makes us better than yesterday, rinse, repeat.

This will be open to all active members of the 43 Legion family. That brings up the subject of membership. Please note that if you haven’t yet renewed, your membership lapses after December 31 st .

Additionally, if you would like to donate a membership, please let the Adjutant know that you’d like to donate $33.50 to help a fellow member. If membership is a decision that you have to make with other bills and obligations, please also contact the Adjutant so you can be placed on an anonymous list of potential recipients.
