Commander's Time

Happy Holidays & Package Theft Season, 43er!

This week is the time for gratitude, and I want to share mine with all of you at this point in the holiday season.

I am forever grateful for my Legion family, who showed amazing support earlier this year during my health scare and hospitalization.

I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve as Commander of this amazing Post.

I’m thankful that we are awakening after Covid with the return of music, comedy, and karaoke to bar nights.

I’m thankful that Karl and Heather Risinger stepped up to prepare our holiday meal at this week’s meeting. I hope you RSVP’d on the calendar so they have enough food for everyone.

I’m thankful for all of the leaders serving on the Legion side of the house.

I’m grateful to Commander Jackman (JJJ) and his team leading Squadron 43.

I’m thankful for Madam President Card and her team leading Unit 43.

Giving thanks to Director Morgan and the work that he and Chapter 43 do.

I’m thankful for our founders leaving us an asset that will support us for at least the next 100 years.

I’m thankful for the ad-hocs and BFC who have navigated us through tough times and advised us towards a brighter future.

All of us in leadership are eternally grateful for every single member who supports the mission, from those who pay their dues to those who add their time and effort to the cause. You are all important to our service to “community, state, and nation.”

In general terms, I am not only thankful, but I am proud of how 43 shows up. No matter what meetings happen in our District, Area, and even at state and national conventions, 43 shows up in impressive fashion. We aren’t there just for our collective good looks, either; we participate and take on roles at every level of the organization.

I’m not only thankful, but I’m excited to see what we do next.

This next year will be hugely important to our future, and I hope many of you will participate in shaping that future. We have to balance being stewards of resources with becoming the flagship Post in all of the American Legion. We will get there because we have a dynamic membership, and I am surrounded by some excellent leaders and experts.

Please consider jumping in and helping.

Right now, we are looking for people to help with holiday Buddy Check calling.
We are also collecting for the “Give the Gift of Membership” that I started during the pandemic to help struggling members keep their membership.

Please contact the Adjutant (adjutant@post43.org) if you’d like to help out with these initiatives and/or if you are looking to jump on a committee.

Again, thank you all for all that you do and for your service and commitment to those who have served and are still serving.

For the good of the Legion,

Jeff Daly, Commander
