Post 43 and DAR Rededicate Restored WWI Memorial on Flag Day

It was a great turnout from Post 43 on Wednesday morning of Flag Day for the rededication of the Victory Memorial Grove WWI monument on June 14, 2017. Special thanks to Post 43 member Lester Probst for his leadership and hard work on making this happen together with the Los Angeles DAR, Disney, The Mission Continues, and LA Parks & Recreation.

Gary "Lieutenant Dan" Sinise Joins the American Legion

Actor Gary Sinise was "capped" into the Sons of the American Legion by Post 43 Commander and Sons dual-member, Fernando Rivero and Sons Squadron 43 commander, Luis Hernandez at the Veterans in Film & Television meeting July 13, 2017. Sinise is a legend in the veteran and military community not just for his acting roles, including his iconic performance as "Lieutenant Dan" in the classic film, Forrest Gump, but for his tireless philanthropic efforts for our community and wounded warriors through his Gary Sinise Foundation. Sinise's father and grandfather are both veterans. Post 43 members were on hand last month when Gary was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Welcome to the Legion Family, Gary! 2017 Commander's Ball a Spectacular Event

A wonderful time was had by all at the third annual Commander's Ball on June 17, 2017. With nearly 200 attendees, the gala event was one for the record books. Amazing food catered by Justin Urich of On the Thirty Restaurant! Great music was provided by Douglas Roegiers and his band plus a stirring rendition of the national anthem by teen vocal sensation Shannon K.

Convention of American Legion Department of California Starts This Week!

Post 43 will send a record 15 delegates to the Department (state) convention in Riverside this year, June 22-25. If you are a delegate or alternate, you will receive your convention packet at the July 19 post meeting. Read the Call to Convention HERE and the Convention Agenda HERE.
