At the April 16th Post Meeting you will be asked to nominate delegates to the Department of California Convention. This year the convention will be held in Sacramento, CA from June 21-24 , 2018. Being a Delegate is an opportunity to learn more about the American Legion’s many programs. You will meet the candidates running for Department Commander and will meet Legionnaires from across the state of California who are engaged in the business of the American Legion. As a delegate you are expected to represent the post and the 24th District in various committee meetings and also be present on the floor of the convention while it is in session.
The post underwrites the cost of attending the convention. However, the delegates’ job does not end when the convention is over. If you are elected as a delegate, you are expected to return to the post energized and motivated to involve our members in committee assignments and to plan innovative activities that support the Legion’s many programs involving Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, Americanism, Children and Youth, and National Security. If you are interested in being elected as a delegate, please understand that commitment and investment of time to serve your fellow Legionnaires in the post and the 24th District throughout the upcoming Legion year.
