Loyola Law Student Veteran Awarded Scholarship

A note from Past Commander, Judge Advocate and fellow Legionnaire, Bill McTaggart:

For several years Post 43 has made an annual donation of $1,000.00 to the Loyola Law School (Los Angeles) Veterans Scholarship.  I have been matching that gift so that our combined gift is $2000.00.

I am personally deeply committed to this scholarship.  I graduated from Loyola in 1978 along with several other Vietnam veterans.  The G.I. Bill paid for my tuition and books.  Today, the G.I. Bill is not enough for a full time student at a private law school.  This scholarship enables a veteran to take the full benefit of a legal education and to eventually serve the rule of law.

Last year's winner is now working in the Los Angeles District Attorney's office.  This year's winner, Jeff Trammell aspires to be a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's office.  Both are combat veterans.

Jeff, by the way has already applied for membership in Post 43.  Jeff wrote the following:

"I am extremely grateful and honored to be selected as the recipient of the VeteransScholarship. Your generosity will allow me to focus on tax law and my participation with the Byrne Trial Advocacy Team. This will further allow me to reach my goal of becoming a U.S. Attorney and bring justice to tax evaders and white collar criminals.

I continue to look for opportunities not only to advance my own path but to pass along what I learn to others. This year, the Veterans Scholarship will make this possible for me and I am extremely grateful.

Thank you, again, for your thoughtful and generous gift.

Sincerely,
Jeffery A. Trammell"

Post 43 congratulates Jeff on his scholarship and wishes him the best in his career. We look forward to continuing to fund this scholarship along with Bill's matching donation, and supporting veterans who pursue the law at Loyola Law School!
